What sort of events do we organize?

In Adventure Guides, you’ll have the chance to join a variety of events. We try to do as much outdoors as possible, but sometimes it’s Ohio and winter and we just go bowling. We aim for one major and one minor event a month, but the schedule is all based around volunteer availability, the weather, the school year, and everyone’s lives. As a member, you don’t have to come to anything, or you can come to everything. You get out what you put in.

Big Events

Big Events are higher commitment, sometimes require driving somewhere or planning or packing. They often have a cost (like campsite fees or at least packing food and supplies).

  • Group campsites at Ohio State Parks
  • Weekend retreats at YMCA campgrounds
  • Pinewood Derby
  • Annual Induction Night Campout

Easy Events

We try to balance the bigger events with easy/cheap/free/small events that don’t require setting aside your whole weekend and getting attacked by mosquitos. Especially good for families or kids that just aren’t into sleeping in tents or have needs that prevent a weekend getaway. Usually free, and maybe we collect cash for pizza or organize a potluck.

  • Board game night
  • Christmas/Holiday party
  • Hiking in the metroparks
  • Bowling
  • Pumpkin Carving

Member Trips

We plan as much as we can manage, but we also try to foster the space for members to plan their own adventures and invite friends along. You don’t have to wait for us to schedule an event, but if the members have interest, we’ll do what we can to support it.

We’ll post some pictures here soon, and elaborate on more events, so that you know what to expect. The goal is to create opportunities for families to be friends.
